Infrastructures for research and innovation

The potential for Swedish companies, suppliers and user groups to become even better at utilizing access to Europe's large research infrastructures is somewhat staggering. More competitive companies, a Sweden that remains at the forefront as an innovative country and more solutions to difficult societal challenges are some of the benefits.

Sweden currently has its own research infrastructures such as ESS and MAX IV outside Lund and SciLifeLab in the Stockholm region. In addition, there are a large number of research facilities around the world that are also open to Swedish actors. The facilities are intended to provide researchers from academia and industry with instruments and technical resources and contribute to innovations and solutions to various challenges that society faces.

Vinnova wants to ensure increased and broader use of advanced research infrastructure and that Sweden realizes the full potential of its investments. We need to raise awareness of how industry, the health sector, society and the population can benefit from large-scale research infrastructure. Cross-border cooperation, knowledge and resilience are more important than ever to meet the challenges facing society.
