International innovation experts aim to help Sweden increase its innovation capacity

Vinnova has appointed an international advisory board with three recognized innovation experts who will contribute with valuable perspectives and knowledge to Sweden. The advisory board's work started with a full-day workshop in which, among others, economist Mariana Mazzucato participated together with leading researchers and government representatives.

The International Council of Experts will meet a couple of times a year and their mission is to help strengthen and develop Sweden's innovative capacity. Among other things, it is about highlighting knowledge about international trends that Sweden needs to relate to, strengthening Vinnova's international connection and challenging with new perspectives.

In connection with the expert council's first meeting on January 27, 2020, Vinnova and the Sustainable Cities Council invited a workshop in which leading researchers, representatives of the government and other actors discussed how Sweden can mobilize for a sustainable society. Banny Banerjee, Founding Director Change Labs, Stanford University.

Banerjee has been moving in the areas of innovation and design for 30 years. Bertil Andersson, Former Rector of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.

During Bertil Andersson's time as headmaster, NTU established itself as a world-class university that attracts professors, researchers and international students at the top level. In 2014, he initiated a successful collaboration between NTU and KTH, which resulted in a joint postgraduate education in urban systems science with the focus on architecture and community building.
