Sweden leader in advanced therapies 2030

The vision for this innovation environment is for Sweden to become a world leader in the development and availability of advanced therapies.

This web page has been machine translated. If there are any uncertainties, please refer to the Swedish text.

Advanced therapy drugs, ie gene therapies, cell therapies or tissue engineering products, enable effective treatments and in some cases cure for a number of disease states. In order for these opportunities to better benefit Swedish healthcare and patients, the challenges that are currently slowing down development need to be solved.

The innovation environment brings together actors from healthcare, business, authorities, academia and patient representatives who in various groups and contexts work together to solve the obstacles that exist today. Through a long-term renewal of the innovation system, Sweden will become a leader in the development and commercialization of advanced therapy drugs, as well as the provision of valuable advanced therapies to patients in healthcare.

The path to the vision goes through activities and initiatives that aim at one or more of the following five sub-goals that represent different perspectives and identified challenges:

  1. Increased coordination and concentration of forces in Sweden, as well as increased internationalization
  2. Improved conditions for development and commercialization of advanced therapies in Sweden
  3. Clear and coordinated processes for the development and availability of advanced therapies in Swedish healthcare.
  4. Increased knowledge to secure future competence needs
  5. Organization for sustainability

The innovation environment is run by a core team of seven committed people with complementary skills and perspectives and different areas of responsibility. The core team initiates and coordinates activities and initiatives that aim at the various sub-goals. The work is largely based on dialogue and collaboration with other existing initiatives, organizations and structures in the area. The form of collaboration strives to be inclusive and flexible; it is not necessary to be a formal party in the environment to participate in and influence the work.
