Boosting employees' competence while on paid leave

I Sverige estimates that 100,000 people will be short-term permits for the rest of the year. In order for companies and individuals to emerge from the crisis faster, it is crucial that there are good opportunities for relevant skills development. Vinnova is now financing a project that will give companies easy access to web-based courses that meet the needs of the labor market.

Skills development and knowledge sharing are more important than ever to reverse the crisis and capture the opportunity for sustainable change. This may, for example, involve knowledge to enable the change from gasoline to battery operation, from mechanics to digital technology or from manual technology to autonomous technology.

The project is a collaboration between Tillväxtverket, Teknikföretagen, IF Metall, Vocational College and Collegial together with Combient. It is about developing a learning portal for skills development and knowledge sharing that works on a large scale. The learning portal should promote continuous and individualized learning by offering easy access to courses.

Vinnova finances the feasibility study with just under SEK 1.5 million for Collegial's platform to be adapted and opened for more companies.
