Programme description

The Programme Description is the Challenge-driven Innovation programme’s foundation. As an applicant, it is important that you read it. The description includes the principles that define a challenge-driven approach and other important aspects that all applicants must take into consideration. It also specifies the programme’s objectives and how these relate to the Global Goals contained in the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The global sustainability goals – 2030 Agenda

The UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is an agreement between UN member states to eradicate poverty, improve social equality, solve the climate-change crisis and promote peace and justice by 2030. All projects accepted to the Challenge-driven Innovation programme must contribute to achieving these goals.

Define goals and metrics using impact logic

Impact logic is one approach used to determine a project’s goals, methods and metrics. Impact logic will help you plan your project. It will help you define your project’s ultimate objective, how to achieve it and how you can measure your success after the project is completed. Standards of Evidence is the British innovation foundation Nesta’s handbook for applying the impact logic method.

Manage and organise

Organising and managing a project that involves broad-scale cooperation and complex challenges requires thorough preparation. It is useful to be able to determine in advance who will be affected by the project and who, in turn, can affect the project. Making use of our workbook and performing a strategic analysis will help you lay a solid foundation for your project and application. A portion of the results generated by these exercises is to be included in your application.

Gender-equality analysis

Vinnova actively supports gender equality and requires that each project we fund do the same. Before submitting your application, you will need to perform our gender-equality analysis. You must include the results in your application.

Budget

Agreeing on a budget is not always a simple task. Use our budget template prior to submitting your application to help make the process easier and more systematic.

Cost distribution

Applicants applying for Stage 2 or Stage 3 funding will need to complete a cost distribution summary. Use the template below to report the cost distribution among the organisations involved for each respective work package.

Division of labour
